COVID-19
Greetings from the Staff at the Ottewell Animal Clinic!
Well, the world has changed and everyone is working to adapt to a new reality of social distancing and communal protection.
We want to assure you that our staff is striving to maintain necessary services while keeping everyone as safe as possible. In that vein, we have been deferring exams of seemingly healthy animals that just need wellness checks. We are asking all clients that are self-isolating or not feeling well, to make alternate arrangements to have their animals come in. We have also adopted a curbside service to reduce traffic in and out of the clinic. You will be informed on the details when booking appointments.
At the time of writing, there are no confirmed cases of COVID 19 causing illness or being transferred to humans from dogs, cats or birds. However, reasonable precautions should be followed, as transfer across species is not unimaginable. If you are feeling well, continue to interact with your pet as you normally do, practicing regular hygiene. If you are not feeling well, avoid close contact with your pets (don’t allow them to sit on your lap/rub your face, do not share food, wash hands before and after touching) and have another member of your household take care of the animal’s regular needs (feeding/walking/playing).
We hope you are all feeling well, and continue to do so. If you are spending more time at home, use this time to enjoy your pets, and take them out for walks in the glorious, virus-destroying Spring sunshine.
